Create a Monitor
Create an active Monitor, test its request configuration, and know what evidence to expect after saving.
Before you start
Bring a public HTTP or HTTPS Endpoint that you control. You must be the Workspace Owner or an Admin to create a Monitor; a Member can view it and run Manual Checks after it is saved. See the Workspace role permissions and free-beta limits before you begin.
Required settings
This example follows the Owner quickstart. The example.com Endpoint is a non-runnable placeholder.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | Customer API |
| Endpoint URL | https://api.example.com/healthReplace this non-runnable placeholder with a public Endpoint you control. |
| Method | GET |
| Accepted statuses | 200 through 399 |
| Interval | 5 minutes |
| Timeout | 10 seconds |
| Initial lifecycle | Active |
Create the Monitor
Open the creation form
In PointWarden, open Monitors and choose Create a Monitor.
Enter the request settings
Complete every field shown above. PointWarden also supports HEAD, POST, and PUT; POST or PUT requires you to acknowledge that the request is safe to repeat.
Run a Test Request
Choose Test Request to check the unsaved request configuration from PointWarden.
A successful Test Request is diagnostic and does not establish Availability.
Save it as active
Keep Start this Monitor after saving selected and choose Create Monitor. Clear that option only when you intend to create a Paused Monitor.
Expected result
An active Monitor is Pending until its current Monitor Revision produces Scheduled Check evidence.
If the first Scheduled Check is not produced, start with the persistent Pending path. Next, learn how to configure advanced request behavior or compare Check types before interpreting evidence.
