Availability and Coverage

Interpret PointWarden's Availability observation, evidence Coverage, freshness warnings, No Data, and Monitor states.

Availability

Availability is PointWarden's evidence-based observation, not a claim about the Endpoint's complete service health.

For a selected time range, PointWarden divides Passing regular Scheduled Checks by all executed regular Scheduled Checks. Manual Checks, confirmation Checks, and missing evidence are excluded.

Coverage

Coverage asks a different question: what proportion of expected regular Scheduled Checks produced Check Evidence? Skipped, obsolete, internally failed, missing, or unfinished work lowers Coverage without counting as Endpoint unavailability.

Read Availability and Coverage together. High Availability with low Coverage means the evidence PointWarden did produce was mostly Passing, but there are gaps in what it observed.

Freshness and No Data

One missing expected Check produces a freshness warning. After two consecutive expected Checks produce no evidence, the Monitor becomes No Data and PointWarden makes no current Availability claim.

No Data does not turn missing evidence into a Failing Check or close an open Incident. Use troubleshoot No Data to investigate PointWarden execution separately from Endpoint behavior.

Monitor states

StateMeaning
PendingThe active Monitor has no Scheduled Check evidence for its current Monitor Revision.
PausedScheduled Checks have stopped and PointWarden makes no current Availability claim. Resuming returns the Monitor to Pending.
AvailableThe latest confirmed Availability is Available and Check Evidence is current.
UnavailableThe Monitor has an open confirmed Incident.
DeletedThe soft-deleted Monitor cannot run Checks; existing evidence remains subject to normal retention.
Suspected FailureOne or two consecutive Failing Checks exist, but PointWarden does not yet have enough evidence to open an Incident.
RecoveringOne Passing Check exists while an Incident remains open; a second consecutive Passing Check is still required.
No DataTwo consecutive expected Scheduled Checks produced no Check Evidence, so PointWarden makes no current Availability claim.

Start with Check types to see which evidence participates in the calculations, then continue to Incident and Recovery confirmation for the state sequence behind Unavailable and Recovering.
